About the Program
Artist Get Ready Grants
CERF+’s Get Ready program provides individual craft artists grants up to $1,000 to conduct activities that will help safeguard their studios, protect their careers and prepare for emergencies. For examples of eligible activities, review the Get Ready Grant Guidelines.

Applications will open on April 29th, 2025 and the deadline to apply is on June 10, 2025 at 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
  • Projects must be complete and grant funds utilized within six months of the grant award. All recipients are required to report back to CERF+.
  • Grant recipients will document and share what they learned from the project and how they were impacted by it with the public. 
  • CERF+ encourages grantees to be creative with how they share what they learned through videos, blog posts, and other media to inspire others to take emergency preparedness and career protection measures.

Ineligible Activities
Art-making projects are not eligible for Get Ready Grants. Only projects for safeguarding studios, protecting studios, implementing other safety measures, or business or career protection will be considered eligible.

About the Program
Artist Get Ready Grants
CERF+’s Get Ready program provides individual craft artists grants up to $500 to conduct activities that will help safeguard their studios, protect their careers and prepare for emergencies. For examples of eligible activities, review the "Get Ready" Grant Guidelines.

CERF+ is hosting a special summer cycle of Get Ready grants for craft artists in Puerto Rico thanks to generous funding available through the Mellon Foundation.

Applications will open June 30th, 2023 and close on August 1st, 2023. 

We will inform all applicants of their grant status on August 29, 2023.

For artists outside of Puerto Rico, our regular Get Ready Grant program will resume this fall and is open to all craft artists throughout the United States and U.S. territories.

  • Get Ready Grant Project Proposal, including
    • Written narrative (400-word maximum) or short video (3-minute maximum) describing your project and how it will support you in safeguarding your studio, preparing for emergencies, or protecting your business and career.
    • How you will share what you have learned about safeguarding your studio, protecting your career, or preparing for emergencies through your project.
    • A list of estimated expenses required to complete the project. Please specify which expenses the Get Ready Grant will fund.

Get Ready Grant Project Proposal
Project proposals may be provided in writing (400 word maximum) or via video (3 minute maximum).

The purpose of the “Get Ready Grant” is to encourage artists to safeguard their studios, protect their careers, or implement other safety measures. Please describe how this project will help protect your practice from future emergencies. If you have questions, read more about "Get Ready" Grant eligibility here.
Choose the project category (or categories) that most closely describes your intended Get Ready Grant activity
  • Studio Safeguards – including purchasing safety equipment, upgrading studio and/or equipment to improve studio health and safety, contractor consulting, purchasing safer materials and supplies, and purchasing a stronger tent, display wall, or weights for participating in outdoor fairs.
  • Emergency/Disaster Readiness – including purchasing emergency tools, supplies and equipment, upgrading studio to reduce disaster risk, contractor consulting, and theft protection measures.
  • Business Protection & Support – including documentation and archiving, inventory software, business planning for continuity and contingencies, creating secure business record-keeping systems, tutorials or training in e-commerce, professional photography of their craft portfolio, employing the services of website designers, short-term support for childcare to allow studio work time.
  • Career Protection – including legacy or estate planning, financial planning services, documentation or digitization of artwork and/or related records, legal counsel, enrolling in a professional development course or workshop to enhance career protection.

Please upload a photo of your driver's license, passport, or other government issued photo identification with a name that matches your application. 

As part of our due diligence to ensure that applicants to CERF+ emergency assistance are in fact the artist they say they are, we require applicants to provide a government issued photo identification to verify identity. 

While we understand that this may pose a challenge for some individuals, it is the best way we can ensure that others are not attempting to pose as other artists and fraudulently obtain emergency assistance. CERF+ takes measures to protect your data and privacy and will properly control access to and storage of this and other data related to your application.
